The course aims at raising awareness and capacity building of school teachers on the use of space technology and its applications.
Mahabubabad: The Indian Institute of Remote Sensing (IIRS), a constituent unit of Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), is going to conduct a free online course on space technology titled ‘Space Technology and Applications’ for teachers from May 31 to June 4, 2021.
In a press note here on Saturday, Dr V Gurunadha Rao, government teacher and science communicator from Mahabubabad district said that the course aims at raising awareness and capacity building of school teachers on the use of space technology and its applications. He urged the teachers to make use of this opportunity.
“Online applications for the course began on the Indian Institute of Remote Sensing website on May 5, 2021. Interested candidates must note that only limited seats are available for the online course and hence learners will be accepted on a first-come-first-serve basis. However, the candidates can apply for another seven days,” he added.
Those who are unable to register may also watch the classes live on the IIRS-Edusat YouTube channel. Interesting topics such as Planetary science, Space technology and the Indian space programme, Satellite communication and navigation technology and its applications, Remote sensing applications in governance, Astronomy and space science and more will be covered under this online programme. School Teachers teaching class 9th to 12th standards of all boards can attend this free online course. It will be very useful for the teachers teaching Science, Mathematics or Geography.
The participants attaining 70 per cent attendance will be awarded a course participation certificate from IIRS-ISRO. The participant will receive a certificate in his/her email. The online sessions delivered under this programme are interactive and delivered by Subject Matter Experts (SME) from ISRO and other International Institute of repute. The online courses are delivered through indigenous active learning platform i.e. Electronic Collaborative Learning and Knowledge Sharing System (E-CLASS) of IIRS.
