IIT Hyderabad bags 664th rank in QS World University Rankings
Secures a place in top 10 per cent of global institutions in citations per faculty; this reflects the institute's focus on impactful and interdisciplinary research, says IIT-H Director

Sangareddy: Indian Institute of Technology Hyderabad (IIT-H) has improved its position in the QS World University Rankings 2026, by securing a global rank of 664. This marks a significant rise from last year’s position in 681–690 band. Most notably, IIT-H secured a place in the top 10 per cent of global institutions in citations per faculty. This metric, which evaluates research influence, had seen the highest growth among all evaluated indicators, showcasing the increasing global recognition of IIT-H faculty contributions.
IIT-H Director Prof BS Murty said the improvement particularly reflected the institute’s focus on impactful and interdisciplinary research, which was gaining worldwide recognition. “Our QS rank is a testament to the collective efforts of our faculty, researchers, and students. We are proud to represent India on the global academic map and are committed to pushing the boundaries further”, he said.
The institute was ranked between 681-690 category in 2025 and 691-700 in 2024.
