IIT Hyderabad half marathon brings together 2,258 runners in celebration of fitness
The IITH Half Marathon 2025 saw 2,258 participants run in support of the Fit India movement. Held on the IIT Hyderabad campus, the event featured the theme “Run to Inspire, Run to Innovate,” with Sunima Dila and Vipin Tyagi winning the 21.1 km categories.

Sangareddy: The Indian Institute of Technology Hyderabad half marathon 2025 turned the campus into a vibrant celebration of fitness as 2,258 runners came together in support of the Fit India movement. Organised by the IITH Runners Club, the second edition drew an impressive mix of students, faculty, alumni, families, corporate runners and fitness enthusiasts from across Telangana and beyond.
This year’s marathon carried the theme “Run to Inspire, Run to Innovate”. The picturesque route through the institute gave participants a memorable and demanding race experience.
Sunima Dila and Vipin Tyagi emerged champions in the 21.1 km half marathon women’s and men’s categories. Tyagi, a tech professional from Hapur in Uttar Pradesh, clocked 1 hour 33 minutes, becoming the fastest runner of the event. Both winners work in the technology sector and reflected the marathon’s message of linking innovation, health and community spirit.
Medals were presented by Pavani Banoth, bronze medallist at the World Ability Sports Games, Additional Collector Sangareddy Chandrashekar Badugu, Sub-Collector Narayankhed Uma Harathi, Managing Director Swan Turbine Services Satyanarayana Pothumarthi and IITH Director Prof B S Murty.
