Sangareddy: Indian Institute of Technology Hyderabad (IITH) and Kaynes Semicon have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen academia-industry collaboration in the semiconductor sector, with a focus on research, talent development, industry exposure and emerging semiconductor and packaging technologies.

The MoU was signed during SEMICON India 2026 on Friday. The collaboration will be driven through the Wadhwani Innovation Network Centre of Excellence (WIN CoE) at IITH, bringing together IITH’s research and innovation ecosystem with Kaynes Semicon’s industry expertise.

The collaboration will also explore industry-led lectures, seminars and training programmes for IITH students, staff and stakeholders within its innovation and incubation ecosystem. IITH professors and researchers will conduct workshops and academic enrichment programmes for Kaynes Semicon engineers on emerging technologies. The two organisations will also explore curriculum development aligned with the latest semiconductor and packaging industry practices.

Director of IITH Prof BS Murty said that the foundation of a self-reliant semiconductor ecosystem was fundamentally rooted in advanced materials science and robust design capabilities. At IIT Hyderabad, he said they had consciously built a comprehensive environment to drive this vision forward, seamlessly connecting pioneering research in their Materials Science and Electrical Engineering departments with specialised academic programmes in silicon technologies.
