Illegally transported sand seized in Hyderabad

Hyderabad: The Hyderabad Commissioner’s Task Force along with revenue authorities conducted raids at construction material sale points in the city and seized 1098 tons of sand brought illegally from districts.
In a joint operation, the teams checked construction material suppliers’ premises where illegally brought sand from different places was stored for supply for local construction activity.
The raids were conducted at Domalguda, Gandhinagar, Bowenpally, Yousufguda, Tukaramgate, Musheerabad, Begumpet and Secunderabad.
Task force officials said that during the operation they found on record that the sand was meant to be delivered to some district but was illegally transported to the city.
Meanwhile, the Rachakonda police set up a check post at Aler mandal to curb sand smuggling and transportation. Rachakonda Commissioner, G Sudheer Babu said in last few days around 50,000 tons of sand was seized by the police and cases booked against the smugglers.
