Hyderabad: IM Dhruva Thota, who holds a FIDE rating of 2411, clinched the under-19 Telangana State Chess Championship held at Dacha Laxmaiah Hall in Wanaparthy.
Competing against strong young talents from across the state, Dhruva demonstrated sharp strategy, calm control and consistent brilliance throughout the two-day event. His commanding performance earned him the championship title, according to his mentor and coach Amitpal Singh of Maestro Chess Academy.
With this victory, Dhruva earned the honour of representing Telangana at the under-19 National Chess Championship, scheduled to be held in Jamshedpur from December 16 to 24.
President of the Wanaparthy District Chess Association, Dr Murali, who is also the owner of Praja Vaidyashala, felicitated Dhruva Thota and the other top performers, presenting them with awards and certificates.
