IMD celebrates 150 years of service; lines up science expos, seminars, talks in Telangana
To commemorate historic milestone on January 14-15, launch special initiative aimed at fostering scientific curiosity

Hyderabad: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) is celebrating completion of 150 years of its service to the country by organising a series of events this month.
Established on January 15, 1875, the IMD has been at the forefront of tropical meteorology development, contributing significantly to weather and climate science over the past century and a half, according to a press release.
IMD is commemorating the historic milestone on January 14-15 and has lined up seminars and popular talks, exhibitions and science expos, school and college camps, competitions for schoolchildren, health awareness medical camps, blood donation camps and plantation drives.
As part of the celebrations, IMD is set to launch a special initiative aimed at fostering scientific curiosity and spreading awareness across Telangana.
On the occasion, a plantation drive was organised on Monday at the Meteorological Centre, old Begumpet airport.
