IMD-Hyderabad forecasts rain, thunderstorm till March 24 in Telangana

Temperatures to start rising by 2 degree to 3 degree Celsius after Monday

Hyderabad: The ongoing spell of thunderstorms accompanied by gusty winds in districts and hail storms at some places is likely to continue till Monday, before temperatures start rising by 2 degree Celsius to 3 degree Celsius.

On Sunday evening, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD)-Hyderabad in its forecast issued yellow alert (moderate intensity), indicating thunderstorms and gusty winds of 30 to 40 kmph only for Monday with temperatures starting to rise steadily after that.

The yellow alert was for Kumuram Bheem Asifabad, Mancherial, Jagtial, Rajanna Sircilla, Karimnagar, Peddapalli, Jayashankar Bhupalapally, Mulugu, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Khammam, Nalgonda, Suryapet, Mahabubabad, Warangal, Hanamkonda, Jangaon, Siddipet, Yadadri Bhuvangiri, Rangareddy, Hyderabad, Medchal Malkajgiri, Vikarabad, Mahabubnagar, Nagarkurnool, Wanaparthy, Narayanpet and Jogulamba Gadwal districts.

The IMD-Hyderabad also issued a forecast of thunderstorms accompanied with heavy winds in the city and several districts on Sunday evening.

Meanwhile, several parts of Hyderabad experienced thunderstorms between Saturday evening and Sunday morning. According to TSDPS data, between 8.30 am Saturday and 8.30 am on Sunday, Thalla Basthi Community Hall, Musheerabad received 36.6 mm of rainfall followed by Jubilee Hills, Shaikpet mandal, which received 36.5 mm.

Several places in the city received 36.5 mm of rainfall including at BHEL Factory (Ramachandrapuram), Shaikpet, University of Hyderabad, GHMC Circle Office at Rajendranagar, Water Board office at Riyasathnagar, Library building in Rein Bazaar, Yakutpura, SRT Colony (Charminar mandal) and Palton Community Hall (Amberpet).

Several districts also witnessed thunderstorms. The maximum rainfall of 38.8 mm was recorded in Bela, Adilabad and Laxmidevipalli mandal in Bhadradri Kothagudem followed by 38.7 mm at Sujathanagar (Bhadradri Kothagudem) and a few places in Adilabad include Jainad and Mavala.

Some of the isolated places in other districts that received thunder storms include Nalgonda, Nizamabad, Nagarkurnool and Mahabubnagar.
