IMD issues heavy rainfall alert for Hyderabad on Monday
Hyderabad and neighbouring districts likely to witness extensive rainfall ranging from 115.6 mm to 204.5 mm; new low-pressure area likely to form around July 24

Hyderabad: In an alert to residents of Hyderabad and adjoining districts, the Hyderabad MET Department issued on Monday a heavy rainfall warning for Hyderabad, Medchal-Malkajgiri, Rangareddy and Vikarabad.
The heavy rainfall warning for Hyderabad and neighbouring districts forecasts extensive rainfall ranging from 115.6 mm to 204.5 mm.
“There will be heavy rains today (Monday) in western districts of Vikarabad, Narayanpet, Mahabubnagar, Medchal-Malkajgiri, Hyderabad and Rangareddy districts. Other districts that will relieve heavy rainfall on Monday are Peddapalli, Karimnagar, Jayashankar Bhupalpally, Mulugu, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Warangal and Hanamkonda,” said Dr K Nagaratna, Head, Hyderabad MET Department.
There is a monsoon trough running from Punjab to Northeast and Bay of Bengal. There is also an upper-air shear off Odisha coast and an east-west wind shear zone at around 13 degrees North, running from North Central Karnataka to South Coastal AP.
Additionally, a new low-pressure area is likely to form around July 24. Under the influence of these synoptic situations, Telangana is expected to receive widespread rains in the coming few days including Monday, Dr Nagaratna added.
