IMD issues orange alert for Telangana, thunderstorms likely
IMD Hyderabad has issued an orange alert for parts of Telangana, warning of thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds. Several districts may witness heavy rain and hailstorms, with temperatures expected to drop as a strong weather system impacts the State.

Hyderabad: The India Meteorological Department (IMD), Hyderabad, on Wednesday evening upgraded its weather warning from yellow to orange (high) for several districts, signaling a period of extensive thunderstorms and severe weather across the State for Thursday.
The revised forecast indicates that a significant weather system will dominate the region for the next few days, bringing heavy thundershowers and a sharp dip in mercury.
While almost all the districts in Telangana remain under a general thunderstorm alert, the IMD, Hyderabad, has specifically issued an orange alert (high) for Jangaon, Siddipet, and Kamareddy districts.
“Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning, gusty winds (40-50 kmph) and hailstorms are very likely to occur at isolated places in Jangaon, Siddipet and Kamareddy districts of Telangana,” IMD Hyderabad said.
For the rest of the districts in Telangana, IMD, Hyderabad said: “Thunderstorms accompanied with lightning and gusty winds (40-50 kmph) are very likely to occur at isolated places in all districts of Telangana”.
The upgrade reflects an increase in intensity for the entire State, with light to moderate rain or thundershowers very likely to occur at a few places over Telangana.
For Friday, the IMD Hyderabad has issued a thunderstorm alert along with lightning and gusty winds (40-50 to 60 kmph) for isolated places in Adilabad, Komaram Bheem Asifabad, Mancherial, Nirmal, Nizamabad, Jagtial, Rajanna Sirisilla, Karimnagar, Peddapalli, Jayashankar Bhupalapally, Mulugu, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Khammam, Nalgonda, Suryapet, Mahabubabad, Warangal, Hanamkonda, Jangaon, Siddipet, Yadadri Bhuvanagiri, Rangareddy, Hyderabad, Medchal-Malkajgiri.
