Hyderabad: Almost all districts of Telangana are expected to receive thunderstorms, lightning, gusty winds, with hailstorms likely in isolated areas over the next two to three days, the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Hyderabad, in its forecast on Tuesday evening said.

While conditions remained hot and dry throughout Tuesday, multiple districts of Telangana, including Hyderabad and its neighbouring districts, witnessed extensive cloud cover by evening. The shift in weather brought a welcome reprieve, lowering maximum daytime temperatures by a degree or two.

Earlier on Tuesday, the IMD, Hyderabad, had indicated extensive thundershowers in several regions of Hyderabad and districts. While there were no reports of severe thunderstorms, multiple areas in Hyderabad on Tuesday evening were under extensive cloud cover, which brought down the highs of the morning.

For the next 48-hours, the IMD, Hyderabad, has issued a yellow alert of thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds (40-50 kmph) for Jayashankar Bhupalapally, Mulugu, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Sangareddy, Medak, Adilabad, Komaram Bheem Asifabad, Mancherial, Nirmal, Nizamabad, Jagtial, Rajanna Sirisilla, Karimnagar, Peddapally, Rangareddy, Hyderabad, Nalgonda, Medchal-Malkajigiri, Vikarabad, Kamareddy, Mahabubnagar, Nagarkurnool, Wanaparthy, Narayanpet and Jogulamba Gadwal.

A similar weather pattern, a combination of high temperatures all through the day, followed by thunderstorms and lightning in the latter half of the day, is expected to continue till next Monday, April 27, 2026.
