IMD says rains to continue in Hyderabad on Friday

On Thursday, several localities in GHMC, including Asifnagar, Khairatabad, Shaikpet, Secunderabad and Bandlaguda received light to moderate shower throughout the night, ranging from 10 to 20 mm.

Hyderabad: Continuous downpours in Hyderabad have brought life to a standstill in various low-lying areas. The city received heavy overnight rains on Wednesday and Thursday. Officials at the India Meteorological Department, Hyderabad forecast that the city will witness moderate to heavy rains throughout Friday.

On Thursday, several localities in GHMC, including Asifnagar, Khairatabad, Shaikpet, Secunderabad and Bandlaguda received light to moderate shower throughout the night, ranging from 10 to 20 mm. The area near Government Boys High School, Kurmaguda received the highest rainfall of 24.8 mm.


The temperaures in the city have dropped due to the continuous rain. The lowest minimum temperature recorded on Friday early morning was 21.8 degree Celsius.

According to the IMD forecast, more moderate to heavy thundershowers are likely in Hyderabad throughout Friday. The maximum temperature in the city is likely to remain around 26 degree Celsius.

The officials also forecast heavy to extremely heavy rains in several districts including Adilabad, Kumram Bheem-Asifabad, Mancherial, Jagityal, Nirmal, Nizamabad, Rajanna Sircilla and Kamareddy among others. Wankidi in Kumram Bheem received the highest rainfall overnight on Thursday of 361.5 mm.
