Hyderabad: Director-General of Police M Mahendar Reddy on Friday said the rule relating to wearing of mask would be implemented strictly across the State in all public places with immediate effect in view of rapid increase in Covid-19 cases.
He asked the police officials to coordinate with all the stakeholders, residents welfare associations, and officials at the village and ward level to ensure mandatory implementation of face mask-rule in all public places.
During a video conference with all Commissioners of Police, district Superintendents of Police (SPs) and other officers up to the rank of Station House Officers (SHOs), the police chief instructed officials to involve all the self-help groups across the State in securing the voluntary compliance by the local communities.
Strict enforcement measures including prosecuting repeat offenders by registering specific cases will be undertaken all over the State. The owners of various commercial establishments including wine shops, pubs, hotels, restaurants, grocery shops and petrol pumps among others are asked not to allow people without masks.
The managements concerned should not provide their services to customers who are not wearing mask. They must display appropriate sign boards in their establishments at prominent places and ensure the same as required under National Disaster Management Act.
“We request the cooperation of people in ensuring 100 per cent compliance of norms relating to wearing face mask and maintaining social distance on a voluntary basis and help in containing spread of the virus,” Reddy said.
Police officers across the State should take measures accordingly with immediate effect, he added.
