Hyderabad: In the wake of the rapid rise of Omicron driven Covid-19 infections across the Country, Chief Secretary, Somesh Kumar on Saturday has directed authorities from various government departments to intensify their efforts to ensure Covid safety protocols are implemented in all walks of life in Telangana.

The CS in a review meeting with senior officials from various government departments has directed officials to ensure no permission is given to hold mass religious, political and cultural gatherings in Hyderabad and elsewhere in Telangana. Somesh Kumar also directed regulatory authorities not to hesitate and impose Rs. 1000 penalty on individuals who roam in public areas without wearing masks.


“Strict implementation of Covid appropriate behaviour and containment protocols like wearing masks, physical distancing and sanitization must be implemented in public transport systems, malls, commercial establishments, shops, government and private offices and schools. Government buildings and other public establishments must be sanitized frequently,” he said.

The CS urged school managements to ensure Covid appropriate behaviour and precautions including physical distancing, masks and sanitization must be followed.

Director General of Police (DGP) M Mahender Reddy, Secretary, Education, Sandeep Kumar Sultania, Secretary, Health, SAM Rizvi, DPH, Dr G Srinivasa Rao and other senior officials were present in the review meeting.
