Hyderabad: The TGSRTC JAC which recently served strike notices to the government had put across 21 demands, primarily merger of RTC employees with the government and job security.
The JAC members said there was no response from the government regarding the notice served earlier and this time they warned of an indefinite strike if their demands were not met.
JAC vice-chairman Thomas Reddy said that the main demand was that the government’s guarantees should be implemented at the earliest. “There was no response from the State government for the previous strike notices. We demand there be discussions and the long-pending issues of the RTC employees must be solved,” he said.
The prime demands include immediate merger of RTC with the government as per the TGSRTC (Absorption of Employees into Government Service) Bill, 2023, passed by the State Assembly in August 2023 but yet to be implemented and payment of two pending Pay Revision Commissions (PRCs) installments with arrears dating back to 2021 and clearing overdue salaries.
They also raised objections to the privatisation of depots under the pretext of introducing electric buses, alleging that the move undermines the corporation’s stability.
