Hyderabad: Drug inspectors of Telangana State Drugs Control Administration (TSDCA) seized improperly stored stocks of Tetanus Vaccine and Oxytocin injections that were kept on racks at room temperature at a medical distributor, Sri Nandini Pharma at Sultan Bazaar.

Tetanus Vaccine and Oxytocin Injections are temperature-sensitive medicines that should be stored in a refrigerator at 2 degree Celsius and 8 degree Celsius to maintain their efficacy.

Storage at room temperature causes a loss of potency, and the use of such injections could adversely affect patient’s health, as they fail to produce the intended therapeutic effect, TSDCA said.

During the course of the raids, TSDCA seized stocks containing two varieties of medicines worth Rs. 10,000. Further investigation will be carried out, and action will be taken as per the law against all offenders, TSDCA, DG, VB Kamalasan Reddy said.

In a separate development, the DCA raided unlicensed premises at Mahima Clinic, Vinayaka Nagar Line, Hanumakonda, where drugs were stocks without a drug license and detected unauthorised stocking of 42 varieties of medicines including expired drugs, habit-forming drugs, vaccines, antibiotics, and steroids, worth Rs 80,000.
