Hyderabad: To decrease congestions and ensure smooth flow of vehicular movement, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) is developing junctions in different parts of the city.

Presently, works pertaining to 11 new junctions are under progress and in addition to them, 14 more junctions will be developed and the works will commence soon, the GHMC said in a press release.

One each in LB Nagar, Charminar, Serilingampally and Kukatpally zone, two in Secunderabad and five in Khairatabad zone are the places where the development of junctions is under way at a brisk pace. The newly-proposed junctions, where works are yet to commence, are also located in different parts of GHMC limits.

As a part of the junction improvement programme, the works taken up by the civic body include junction widening, development of traffic islands, greenery development and installation of bollards.

“To meet the traffic needs of rapidly growing Hyderabad, development of 90 junctions was proposed. Among them, 69 have already been developed and the remaining are under different stages of accomplishment,” said GHMC in a press release.

Most of the junctions proposed and developed are located in the Khairatabad zone and out of the 34 junctions in this zone, works pertaining to 22 have been completed.
