Hyderabad: TPCC president A Revanth Reddy put the foot in the mouth on Friday when his attempts to level allegations against Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao, Minister KT Rama Rao and other TRS leaders boomeranged on him.
In his latest attempt, Revanth Reddy tried to corner the Chief Minister over the latter’s promise to supply fertilisers to farmers free of cost. The Twiterrati, however, pulled the rug from under the TPCC president’s feet and exposed his lies.
In a tweet, Revanth Reddy shared an old video clip of Chandrashekhar Rao who is seen addressing a large group of farmers at Pragathi Bhavan on April 13 of 2017, when he promised that he would ensure that farmers in Telangana get fertilisers free of cost. The TPCC president took the statement literally and stated: “It’s over 4 years and it’s comfortably and completely ignored. Instead of challenging and escaping from debates, I demand @KTRTRS to at least implement it for the farmers,” he tweeted.
What Revanth Reddy didn’t realise is the fact that the Chief Minister had, in fact, improvised on this promise later and came up with Rythu Bandhu investment support scheme which is being emulated in many States as well as the Central government. A Twitter user pointed out that Chandrashekhar Rao announced the Rythu Bandhu scheme to provide Rs 4,000 per acre as financial assistance to farmers towards purchasing seeds and fertilisers with effect from next year (2018).
