India announce squad for AFC U17 Asian Cup Saudi Arabia
India Under-17 men’s national team head coach Bibiano Fernandes announced the 23-member squad for the AFC U17 Asian Cup Saudi Arabia. The Blue Colts, currently training in Doha, will face Australia and Uzbekistan in Group D of the tournament beginning this month
Hyderabad: India Under-17 men’s national team head coach Bibiano Fernandes on Friday named the 23-member squad for the AFC U17 Asian Cup Saudi Arabia.
The Blue Colts are currently in Doha, Qatar, where they have played two closed-door friendly matches against Qatar, which ended 1-1 and 0-0, and will travel to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, on May 3.
India have been drawn in Group D alongside Australia and Uzbekistan. The fourth team in the group, Republic of Korea, have withdrawn from the tournament, making it a three-team group. Bibiano’s boys will play Australia on May 6 and Uzbekistan on May 10.
The top two teams from the group will progress to the quarter-finals, which will also ensure qualification for the FIFA U17 World Cup Qatar 2026.
