Hyderabad: India have been fined 20 per cent of their match fee and the West Indies have been fined 10 per cent of their match fee for maintaining slow over-rates during the final ODI of their three-match series played in New Chandigarh on Saturday.
Prakash Bhatt of the Emirates ICC International Panel of Match Referees imposed the sanctions after India were ruled to be four overs short and the West Indies were ruled to be two overs short after time allowances were taken into consideration.
In accordance with Article 2.22 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Players Support Personnel, which relates to minimum over-rate offences, players are fined five per cent of their match fee for every over their side fails to bowl in the allotted time.
Both captains pled guilty and accepted the proposed sanctions, so there was no need for formal hearings.
On-field umpires Jayaraman Madanagopal and Sam Nogajski, third umpire Sharfuddoula Ibne Shahid and fourth umpire Virender Sharma levelled the charges.
