India names Davis Cup squad for 2026 qualifiers against Netherlands
India announced its Davis Cup 2026 Qualifiers squad to face the Netherlands in Bengaluru on February 7–8. Sumit Nagal, Yuki Bhambri and Karan Singh will play, with Digvijay Singh in reserves. India qualified after defeating Switzerland in 2025
Hyderabad: Four athletes from Roundglass Tennis Academy — Yuki Bhambri, Sumit Nagal, Karan Singh and Digvijay Singh — have been named in India’s Davis Cup squad to face the Netherlands in the Davis Cup 2026 Qualifiers at the SM Krishna Tennis Stadium in Bengaluru on February 7 and 8. Yuki, Sumit and Karan are in the playing squad, while Digvijay has been named in the reserves list.
India No. 1 and World No. 279, Sumit Nagal, recently joined Roundglass Tennis Academy in a landmark move that further strengthens the academy’s position as one of the country’s most credible and ambitious high-performance tennis ecosystems.
Sumit will be joined by Karan Singh and Dhakshineswar Suresh in singles, while the experienced Yuki Bhambri is expected to partner Rithvik Bollipalli in doubles. Karan made his Davis Cup debut last year against Togo in the World Group I play-offs at the DLTA Complex in New Delhi, winning his singles match.
India booked their place in the 2026 Qualifiers by defeating Switzerland 3-1 in the Davis Cup 2025 World Group I tie in Biel in September. This will be India’s first Davis Cup Qualifiers appearance since the tournament format was revamped in 2019. The win over Switzerland was India’s first victory against a European nation in Europe since 1993, with Sumit winning both his singles rubbers.
Roundglass Tennis Academy Lead Aditya Sachdeva said, “Having four players from Roundglass Tennis Academy named in the Davis Cup squad is a proud moment for all of us. It reflects the hard work of the athletes and the collective effort of our coaching, performance, and support teams.”
