Warangal Urban: Governor Dr.Tamilisai Soundararajan said on Friday that the country was heading towards a US$ five trillion economy by 2025 to fulfill the aspirations of its people. “Independent India has made tremendous progress on all fronts in the the last 75 years,” she said.

The Governor was speaking after unfurling the national flag at Police Parade Grounds in Hanamkonda to mark the formal launch of “Azadi ka Amruth Mahotsav.”

“Now, this New India, with a 1.3 billion-plus population, is displaying an extraordinary capability to emerge as a powerful nation,” she said, adding that the country had emerged as the most vibrant and largest democracy in the world. “The Constitution provides a federal structure with a clearly defined division of powers between the Centre and States. We all did not get the chance to die for the country’s freedom, but we have a chance to live for the country’s progress,” she said.

Stating that ‘Azadi ka Amruth Mahotsav’ is to remember the sacrifices of freedom fighters and pay rich tributes to them, the Governor said: “I take pride in eulogising the glorious era of Independent India from the soil of Telangana, which has a major partnership now in the country’s progress. In these past seven-and-a-half decades, India has made rapid strides in each and every field. When several countries across the world, including the most developed nations, are still struggling to overcome the worst-ever crisis created by Covid-19 pandemic last year, India has not only endured its wrath but also showed a new direction to the world by developing, producing, and supplying indigenous vaccines to combat the virus.”

Stating that the people of India should feel proud of supplying indigenous Covid vaccine to more than 50 countries including many developed nations across the globe, the Governor said: “It is the spiritual power of India that has always been an inspiration for the rest of the world. We must plan and strive to ensure a pride of place for our country among the comity of nations in every sphere of life at the time of 100 years celebration of Indian Independence,” Tamilisai said.

Citing ‘Thirukkural,’ the Governor said that unfailing health, fertility, joy, sure defence, and wealth are a country’s five jewels, and appealed to redeem the pledge to take India to newer heights and to make it strong and self-reliant super-power in the world and keep the tricolor flying high. Minister for Panchyat Raj and Rural Development Errabelli Dayakar Rao, district collectors of Warangal Urban and Rural districts, Rajeev Gandhi Hanumanthu and M Haritha respectively, and Warangal Commissioner of Police P Promod Kumar welcomed the Governor.
