Hyderabad: The Indian Air Force has taken umbrage to the manner in which the Air Force uniform is worn by Bollywood actor Anil Kapoor in his latest movie ‘AK vs AK’ and also with the language used by the character while wearing the uniform.
In a tweet on Wednesday, the IAF official handle tagged a trailer of the movie that was shared by Kapoor on Monday.
“The IAF uniform in this video is inaccurately donned & the language used is inappropriate. This does not conform to the behavioural norms of those in the Armed Forces of India. The related scenes need to be withdrawn,” the IAF tweeted, tagging Netflix India, who are slated to release the movie on the OTT platform on December 24, and also director-actor Anurag Kashyap.
According to information on the Netflix page for the movie, ‘AK vs AK’ is a movie on how, after a public spat with a movie star, a disgraced director retaliates by kidnapping the actor’s daughter, filming the search for her in real time.
The film has Kapoor playing himself, Kashyap playing himself, with cameos reportedly from Kapoor’s daughter Sonam Kapoor and brother Boney Kapoor as well. Directed by Vikramaditya Motwane, the movie had a pre-planned marketing gimmick in the form of a Twitter war between Kapoor and Kashyap. The IAF, now has taken the Twitter war to a different level altogether.
