Hyderabad: With heavy and incessant rains battering the city for the last two days and resulting in flooding of many residential areas of Hyderabad, the State government requisitioned the services of the India Army on Wednesday.

Following this, the Army launched flood relief and rescue columns in the Bandlaguda area. According to a statement from the Defence, many stranded people have been evacuated and showing humanitarian values, the Army also distributed a large number of food packets to people affected by the floods.

Army Medical teams are also accompanying the columns and providing essential first aid and medical relief to the stranded people, the statement added.
