Hyderabad: The RGIA police on Tuesday arrested a man for travelling to Libya and staying there for a fortnight in violation of an order issued by the Indian government.
Syed Haji Ismail, a native of Kalburgi in Karnataka, holds an Indian passport and lived in Dubai where he has a business. On June 22, Haji went to Libya from Dubai via Istanbul and stayed there till July 9. “The Ministry of External Affairs had issued an order in 2016 imposing a ban on the travel of Indian nationals to Libya till further orders. Haji violated the orders. Hence a case is booked against him,” said P Vijay Kumar, SHO, RGIA police.
On Tuesday, Haji arrived at the RGIA when the immigration authorities while checking his passport noticed that he had visited Libya and informed the police, who took him into custody and booked a case. On interrogation, Haji told the police that he had gone to Libya as he had to get some money from some customers there.
