Indian Pangolin, rescued, released in Kothagudem’s Kinnerasani Deer Park

Kothagudem: A rare, endangered Indian Pangolin that was spotted and rescued on Sunday night near Singareni Main Hospital in Kothagudem has been released into the forest area of Kinnerasani Deer Park.
The animal was rescued by one-town ASI BV Raju and constable Appala Raju after locals and SCCL security personnel spotted it. Following district forest officer Siddarth Vikram Singh’s directions, deputy range officer Ramu, forest beat officer Naresh and Deer Park section officer Kishan released it safely into its natural habitat without causing any stress or harm.
The Indian Pangolin is one of the rare and important wildlife species found in the region. It primarily feeds on ants and termites and plays an important role in maintaining the ecological balance of forest ecosystems, the DFO said.
He appealed to the public not to catch wild animals if they are found in human habitations but to inform forest officials. He appreciated the cooperation and coordination extended by the police, Singareni security personnel and locals in ensuring the safe rescue and rehabilitation of the rare animal.
