Indian Pharma products exempted from US Tariff, following BRS MP Parthasaradhi Reddy’s appeal in Rajya Sabha

Hyderabad: Bharat Rashtra Samithi Rajya Sabha member and Hetero Group’s Chairman Bandi Parthasaradhi Reddy’s appeal to the Central government paid off as the pharmaceutical products made in India have been exempted from the reciprocal tariff imposed by the United States.
The BRS MP on Thursday thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his intervention on the issue. He wrote a letter to the Prime Minister and congratulated him on the achievement.
Parthasaradhi Reddy had effectively brought to the notice of Rajya Sabha about the impact of US reciprocal tariff during Zero Hour on March 26.
Responding to his concern, the Prime Minister took up the issue and secured exemption for Indian pharmaceutical products from the US reciprocal tariff.
“I understand the immense benefits this exemption will bring to our Indian pharmaceutical industry. It will not only boost our exports but also reinforce India’s position as a reliable and quality supplier of pharmaceutical products globally and retaining the title of Pharmacy of the World,” Parthasaradhi Reddy said in the letter.
This would also enable affordability and availability of lifesaving medicines for US patients. Your government’s relentless pursuit of economic diplomacy and strategic engagement with the United States has yielded this favorable outcome, he stressed.
“I appreciate the efforts of your team in negotiating and securing this exemption, which will have positive impact on our economy and employment opportunities,” Parthasaradhi Reddy said.
