Hyderabad: Indian Railways rallied splendidly to beat Punjab & Sind Bank 7-3 in the Pool B match in the ‘Gooncha 57th Nehru Senior Hockey Tournament’,being held at the SCR Sports Complex, Secunderabad, on Wednesday.

In the Pool ‘A’ match Indian Oil trounced Army Xl by 4-1. Railways had their back to the wall in the first quarter when they conceded goals Innocent Munda and Aditya Singh. But after the early setback, Railways bounced back strongly. They pounded the Bank citadel and Mukul Sharma found the first goal for the winners in the 20th minute and two minutes later Ajay Yadav equalised.

A rejuvenated Railway began to pump in goals at regular intervals as Pardeep Singh netted in two. Prince struck one for Bank through a penalty corner but Arjun Sharma, Seshe Gowda and Ajay Yadav completed the rout for Railways.

Indian Oil began with a big win as VR Raghunath, Talwinder and Roshan Minz scored for the winners. Harman Singh reduced the margin for the losers.
