Indian Railways win Federation Cup ball badminton title in Tirunelveli

Indian Railways won the ninth Federation Cup ball badminton championship in Tirunelveli, Tamil Nadu, for the fourth consecutive time. Led by G P Vignesh and coached by K Sashi Kumar, Railways dominated both league and Super League matches to emerge champions

Hyderabad: Indian Railways won the ninth Federation Cup ball badminton championship for the fourth consecutive time in Tirunelveli, Tamil Nadu.

Coached by K Sashi Kumar of South Central Railway and Senthil, and led by G P Vignesh, Railways dominated the championship with two wins in the league phase and victories in all three Super League matches to emerge clear winners.


In the Super League, Railways defeated Andhra Pradesh 35-25, 35-23, then beat All India Electricity Sports Control Board 35-19, 35-18, and recorded a 35-25, 35-21 win against Tamil Nadu.

The victorious Railways team comprised G P Vignesh (captain), Ch Vengal Rao, R Rajesh, VR Vithin Kumar, N Kalaiselvan, Sanjay, Suresh Kumar, Ganesh Kumar, Rupendra and Srinivasa Teja. The last two are from South Central Railway.

Kathir was the manager of the team.
