IndiGo flight makes emergency landing in Delhi after engine failure
An IndiGo flight from Visakhapatnam to Delhi made an emergency landing at Indira Gandhi International Airport after an engine failure. All 160 passengers are safe, and the airline said the aircraft is undergoing checks following a technical snag
Mumbai: A Delhi-bound IndiGo flight from Visakhapatnam, carrying 160 passengers on board, made an emergency landing at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport on Saturday due to an engine failure, according to sources.
“Full emergency was declared at Indira Gandhi International Airport at 10.39 am for IndiGo Visakhapatnam-Delhi flight 6E 579 due to one engine failure,” a source said.
There were 160 passengers on board the Boeing 737 aircraft, the source said.
The flight landed at 10.59 am, as per flight tracking website flightradar24.com.
Meanwhile, IndiGo, in a statement, said: “A technical snag was detected shortly before landing on IndiGo flight 6E 579 operating from Visakhapatnam to Delhi on March 28, 2026.”
“As a precautionary step and in accordance with standard operating procedure, the pilots requested priority landing and the aircraft arrived safely at Indira Gandhi International Airport, Delhi. All relevant authorities were promptly informed and the aircraft is undergoing necessary checks and maintenance,” an IndiGo spokesperson said.
