An IndiGo Kuwait–Hyderabad flight with 228 passengers was diverted to Mumbai on Tuesday after Hyderabad Airport received a bomb threat email. The aircraft landed safely, and emergency teams were deployed. The incident comes amid a rise in recent hoax bomb alerts nationwide.
Hyderabad: A flight operating from Kuwait to Hyderabad made an emergency diversion to Mumbai on Tuesday morning after the airline reportedly received an email claiming that a bomb had been planted on board.
According to information available, the aircraft, scheduled to land at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport at around 8.10 am, was instructed to alter its course mid-air as a precautionary measure. The pilot reportedly informed passengers about the threat, prompting tense moments inside the cabin as the flight proceeded to Mumbai under emergency protocols.
On landing there, the aircraft was quickly moved to an isolation bay, and a full-scale security drill was initiated. Teams from the Mumbai Police Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS), CISF, and airport security began exhaustive checks of the aircraft, baggage, and cargo.
