Karimnagar: BRS leaders have demanded the State government to conduct an inquiry into irregularities in the selection of beneficiaries for the Indiramma housing scheme.

Calling it the biggest scam in the State, they said Congress leaders were allocating houses to their people by taking Rs 50,000 as bribe, setting aside eligible beneficiaries.

According to GO No.7, eligible beneficiaries should be allocated houses based on the applications received in the Prajapalana programme. Moreover, the selection of beneficiaries should be done by conducting grama sabhas. However, the procession is being done according to the wishes of Congress leaders, they alleged and warned to wage an agitation if eligible beneficiaries were denied houses.

BRS MLAs Gangula Kamalakar, Padi Kaushik Reddy and other leaders on Saturday submitted a representation to the Collector requesting her to continue developmental works taken up in Karimnagar during the BRS government. When asked about damage of check dams constructed in the district during the BRS regime, they demanded the government to conduct an enquiry into the issue and take action against those responsible.

Kaushik Reddy also raised the Dalit Bandhu scheme issue, asking the State government to immediate release the amount to the beneficiaries. He also said BRS president K Chandrashekhar Rao had made it clear that Revanth Reddy should continue in power for his full term. Ravanth Reddy might be facing threats from his cabinet colleagues Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy, Uttam Kumar Reddy and others but not from the BRS, he said, asserting that the party had no plans of toppling the government.
