HYDERABAD: Forests Minister A Indrakaran Reddy said forest personnel were striving hard in protecting the forests, which aid in increasing green cover and also help the mankind in different ways.
On the occasion of Forests Martyrs Day, the Minister paid homage to forest personnel, who lost their lives while performing their duties, at a programme organised at Nehru Zoological Park here on Saturday.
Addressing on the occasion, the Minister said since 1984, 21 forest department officials and staff members had lost their lives while performing duties in Telangana.
The forest department personnel were striving hard in protecting forests and assets. He said the sacrifices made by forest department officials in saving the forests from smugglers and mafia would not go waste.
Despite Corona pandemic, the forest officials and staff members had not compromised in their duties to protect forest properties, the Minister said.
Telangana Government is committed for the welfare of family members of officials and staff members, who had sacrificed their lives in protecting the forests. The Government will extend all support to their families, he added.
