Hyderabad: Sri Tridandi Chinna Jeeyar Swamy said inequality was a more dangerous virus than corona and saint Sri Ramanuja had provided a vaccine to cure such disease 1000 years ago by promoting equality among all sections in the society. In the present times, people from the same caste and religion were fighting against each other to derive personal benefits. This was leading to hatred and disturbances and to address such issues, saint Sri Ramanuja promoted equality and stressed that opportunities should be provided to all, irrespective of their caste, religion and economical status, said Chinna Jeeyar Swamy.
His teachings, ideology and messages were relevant in the present times as they did in the 11th century. To commemorate 1000 years of Sri Ramanuja, the Statue of Equality was being unveiled by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on February 5, he said while addressing media persons here on Monday. Apart from fighting against inequality and striving for women empowerment, saint Sri Ramanuja Acharya also strived for protection of ecology and environment. He promoted greenery, protection of other living beings, including animals and conservation of water and natural resources. He even constructed a reservoir in Karnataka and even today it was providing water to lakhs of acres in Thondanur. All these factors were very essential even in the present times to facilitate mankind live in peace and harmony, said Chinna Jeeyar Swamy.
He said 5000 Ritwiks from across the country would participate in the Sri Ramanuja Sahasrabadi Samaroham from February 2 to 14. Sri Lakshmi Narayana Maha Yajna with 1035 homa kundas will be performed for universal welfare and well-being. On the reasons for using 1.5 lakh kgs of pure authentically processed ghee for the homams, he said the smoke emanating from the yagashala purifies the environment. This would lead to bountiful of rains and yields good harvest for farmers, he said. “Using 1.5 lakh kgs of ghee, many people can be fed but the same quantity of ghee will benefit mankind in many ways,” explained Chinna Jeeyar Swamy.
