Hyderabad: Nearly 16 cottages and restaurant have been established for tourists visiting Rudreshwara temple at Ramappa which has been recognised as the world heritage site by the UNESCO recently. The State government is also developing more guest houses and restaurants in the nearby areas at a cost of Rs 7 crore, which are nearing completion.
Explaining the State government’s plans to develop the Ramappa temple during Question Hour in the Assembly on Monday, Tourism Minister V Srinivas Goud said the State government will take all measures to protect the heritage structures in the State. He stated that the Ramappa temple site was under the control of Archaelogical Survey of India (ASI) and hence, the government must obtain ASI approvals for taking up any work on the premises. He alleged that the ASI is neither taking up any development works nor responding to the State government’s requests to allow it to take up them.
Anticipating influx of international tourists after receiving the UNESCO world heritage site tag, the Ramappa temple surroundings will be developed with infrastructure of international standards. Proposals are being prepared to develop water sports adventure activities, convention centre, theme park and other facilities. Efforts are also being made to develop the surrounding areas including Mulugu, Laknavaram, Tadwai, Medaram and Bogatha waterfalls among other tourist spots as a tourism circuit. Proposals are being prepared to develop an island in the Ramappa lake.
Plans afoot to develop entire Telangana State into four-five tourism circuits covering all the districts and also develop at least once mini tourism circuit per each district.
