Siddipet: Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao has instructed the officials concerned to initiate the process of rehabilitating the residents of Tukkapur village in Thoguta mandal, and set up a new village at Thukkapur Cross Roads. Since the village is located very close to Mallanna Sagar project, the villagers, under the leadership of Medak MP Kotha Prabhakar Reddy, met with Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao during lunch on Wednesday when the Chief Minister inaugurated the Mallanna Sagar project.

The village which has about 250 houses saw water seeping out everywhere when irrigation authorities started filling the Mallanna Sagar project. The toilets have been overflowing and the walls of the houses were wet, making life difficult for the residents. Since the irrigation authorities have just filled 10TMCft of water against the project’s full capacity of 50TMCft, Market Committee Chairman Gadila Anitha Lakshma Reddy told Telangana Today they felt the problem would further escalate since the irrigation authorities were preparing to fill the project to the brim following the guidelines of the Central Water Commission in the next two years.

With the residents facing issues, she said that they met Prabhakar Reddy and Finance Minister T Harish Rao requesting them to rehabilitate them at Tukkapur Cross Road by building new houses besides giving the R&R package. Under the leadership of the MP, the villagers met with the Chief Minister who responded positively and instructed the authorities concerned to initiate the process of rehabilitation.

After the Chief Minister’s announcement, the village erupted in celebration. The villagers under the leadership of TRS Village President Cheruku Lakshma Reddy and Mandal Party President Thoguta Jeeedipally Ram Reddy performed Palabhiskeham to the portrait of the Chief Minister late on Wednesday evening. Primarily, the revenue officials have identified a piece of land near Tukkapur Crossroad to shift Tukkapur village. Prabhakar Reddy thanked the Chief Minister for his swift response.
