Mancherial: An inquiry has begun into an alleged attempt to encroach on a piece of government land behind D Mart shopping mall, following a report published in Telugu daily Namaste Telangana.
It was learnt that Collector Kumar Deepak instructed Mancherial MRO Raufathullah to carry out a comprehensive inquiry to ascertain how much government land was there and how much was assigned to weaker sections. The news report published on March 12 alleged that some persons were making attempts to grab four acres of land in survey numbers 288, 289, 293, 296, 301 and 302.
The report said the land was assigned to financially weak families and that they were now facing the threat of being displaced by some people who were planning a real estate layout. The group reportedly planned to occupy the land, located in a prime location and valued at Rs 20 crore, by converting it into house sites.
