INSA Fellowship for BITS Pilani Hyderabad Professor Mahipal Reddy

Prof Benjaram Mahipal Reddy of BITS Pilani, Hyderabad, has been elected a Fellow of the Indian National Science Academy for his major contributions to chemical sciences. A highly published researcher and guide, he is also listed among the world’s top 2% scientists.

Hyderabad: Prof Benjaram Mahipal Reddy, Senior Professor Emeritus in the Department of Chemistry, BITS Pilani, Hyderabad Campus and a former Chief Scientist, CSIR-Indian Institute of Chemical Technology, Hyderabad, has been elected a Fellow of the Indian National Science Academy (INSA), New Delhi.

Established in 1935, INSA elects Fellows who have made exceptional contributions to the advancement of scientific knowledge and technology. Prof Reddy, who hails from Chinthamadaka village in Siddipet district, pursued his entire education in government schools before earning his B.Sc. (1979, Osmania University), M.Sc. (1981, Kakatiya University), and PhD (1986, CSIR–IICT).


Prof Reddy has published 345 original research articles in refereed international journals, edited 2 books, authored 5 monographs, 13 book chapters, and 16 reviews. He holds 8 patents and has guided 40 PhD theses and over 35 BTech/MTech/MSc dissertations, and has been featured in the Top 2% of the world’s scientists in chemical sciences (Stanford University data) since 2019.
