Finance Minister T Harish Rao conducts review meeting in Medak.
Medak: Finance Minister T Harish Rao on Sunday instructed the authorities of Sri Vana Durga Bhavani Temple at Edupayala to install 50 CCTV cameras for increased surveillance during the annual Jatara that begins on March 9. The Minister also sought the cooperation of the industries in Medak district to help in increasing the number of CCTV cameras from the present 42.
The Minister, who held a review meeting with officials and elected representatives at the temple, said devotees were expected from Nagasanpally and Kulcharam this year, and these areas too needed to be put under surveillance. He also directed the officials to complete all the developmental works undertaken in and around the temple.
Stating that the influx of devotees has been increasing every year, Harish Rao said the turnout of devotees this year was expected to touch 10 lakhs during the seven day Utsavams commencing on March 9, two days ahead of the auspicious Mahashivarathri. Rao asked them to complete the 100-feet road works on the premises of the temple on a war-footing besides completing the works of four sheds.
Advising the irrigation officials to release water from Singur to Ghanpur anicut during the Utsavams, the Minister directed the temple officials to install barricades along the Ghanpur anicut to prevent any untoward incidents.
Asking them to provide all the facilities coming to the temple, Rao instructed them to place temporary toilets besides providing drinking water available at all corners. The Minister suggested the Panchayat officials to depute Panchayat workers from neighbouring Panchayats at the temple to keep the premises clean and hygienic throughout the festivities.
The Minister asked the health department officials to place 5 health camps to attend to the sick devotees besides spraying the bleaching powder all over the place. Asking them to carry out fogging to control the mosquito menace, Rao has suggested the health department to keep three ambulances ready at the temple during the Utsavams.
He has also instructed the RTC authorities to operate 5 shuttle services from Medak bus station to temple located at Nagasanpally in Papannapet Mandal with an objective to provide safe transportation. The Minister suggested the Police, Fire, Endowment officials and other wings of the district administration to keep a close eye on the movement of the devotees to avoid any untoward incidents. He has also suggested that they take all precautionary measures to prevent the spread of Covid-19.
