Installation and gold plating of Dwajasthambham under progress at Yadadri

Hyderabad: Installation and gold plating of Dwajasthambham (flag staff), Kalashas atop the Gopurams (entrance tower), Bali Peetham and main door of the sanctum sanctorum at Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy temple, Yadadri is likely to be completed in a month.

The temple management is using nearly 16 kgs for gold plating of the Dwajasthambham, seven gopurams of the main temple and main door of the sanctum sanctorum. Works are already being taken up at a brisk pace as Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao announced that Maha Kumbha Samprokshana of the temple would be held on March 28, 2022.


Workers from Mahabalipuram, Tamil Nadu are executing these works under the supervision of experts, said a senior official from Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy temple adding that works pertaining to the main doors gold plating are already completed.

Fixing of Dwajasthambham and Kalashas is a professional work, besides gold plating. Before gold plating, copper plating is done on the Kalashas and then they are fixed atop the Gopurams. Similar process is followed for Dwajasthambham as well, the official explained.While, the seven Gopurams of Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy temple will be having gold plated Kalashas, the ones on Shiva temple atop the hill, will have brass-plated Kalashas.

Regarding Dwajasthambham, the official said two special single-piece wooden logs were brought from Adilabad and Nirmal two years back. Before commencing works like carving and others, they have to be seasoned for a long time. The Dwajasthambham of Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy temple is over 34 feet in height, the one to be installed at Shival temple will be about 36 feet in height.

“Since the Maha Kumbha Samproskhana date has already been announced, all these works will be completed in a month,” the official informed.

Donations pour in for Vimana Gopuram gold plating

Ever since Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao appealed to the people to donate voluntarily for the gold plating of Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy temple’s Vimana Gopuram, donations continue to pour in for the purpose.

Several Ministers, MLAs, elected public representatives and corporate companies have announced their donations for the gold plating works. To facilitate donations, the temple management has already set up a special hundi in the Balalayam premises. So far, nearly Rs.4 crore cash has been received and many people are donating cash. Already, announcements have been made for cumulative donations of nearly 44 kgs till date, said the official. A special committee is being constituted to execute the Vimana Gopuram gold plating works.
