Intel warns of protests, security beefed up at Nagarjuna Sagar dam, power plant
According to sources, the police have intelligence reports that some Ministers from Andhra Pradesh were planning to stage a protest at the dam site or the power plant
Nalgonda: A large contingent of police has been deployed at Nagarjuna Sagar dam, hydel power plant and SPF control room. Superintendent of Police AV Ranganath visited Nagarjuna Sagar and issued necessary instructions to the police personnel deployed at the place.
According to sources, the police have intelligence reports that some Ministers from Andhra Pradesh were planning to stage a protest at the dam site or the power plant against the decision of the Telangana government to generate electricity at all its hydel power plants.
Subsequently, more than 100 police personnel have been deployed at select points at Nagarjuna Sagar. Power generation began at Nagarjuna Sagar Hydro Power Plant on Tuesday following the decision by the State government.
The water level in Nagarjuna Sagar Project has reached 534 feet against its Full Reservoir Level of 590 feet with inflows of 26,227 cusecs reported on Wednesday.
