Nalgonda: Gurrampode police on Tuesday arrested an inter-state bike lifter, who stole 22 motorcycles, from different places in Nalgonda district and Rachakonda Police Commissionerate limits.
The arrested was identified as Katta Gatta Reddy (27), who was native of Mylaram village of Gurrampode mandal in Nalgonda district and residing in a rented house at Hasthinapuram in Hyderabad.
Presenting the arrested persons at a media conference at Gurrampode police station, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Devarakonda Anand Reddy informed that Gatta Reddy was working as a driver of a taxi at Hyderabad and resorted to thefts for easy money. In house burglar cases registered against him in LB Nagar and Jidimetla police stations.
He was lodged to jail in 2019. After released from the jail a few months ago, he was staying at his sister’s house at Pittalagudem in the mandal. During vehicle checking at Pittalagudem stage at 6 am, the police chased and took Gatta Reddy into their custody when he tried to avoid vehicle checking and tried to speed away.
During investigation, he confessed his offences. He revealed that he stole bikes from Rachakonda police commissionerate limits, Nalgonda and also from Andhra Pradesh.
The police recovered 21 motor cycles, which were hiked at agricultural fields of his brother-in-law at Pittalagudem.
DSP said that PD Act would be invoked against the vehicle lifter.
