Inter-state bike-lifting gang busted in Adilabad, eight held

Adilabad: An inter-state bike-lifting gang was busted with police arresting five members of the gang and three buyers of the vehicles here on Wednesday. The police seized 44 motorcycles from the five.

SP Akhil Mahajan said that Marampelli Anil Kumar, Shaik Shabbir, Shaik Mustashahid, Mohammad Zakir, Mohammad Shafi, Muzahid, Iqbal and Kareem, all from Echoda and Sirikonda mandals, were apprehended for their role in lifting and buying motorcycles.

During interrogation, Anil, Shabbir, Mustashahid, Zakir and Shafi reportedly confessed to committing the offence by forming a gang. They admitted to selling the bikes to Muzahaid, Iqbal and Kareem by altering the registration numbers of the vehicles. They revealed that they lifted motorcycles parked in front of houses at night in different parts of Adilabad, Nizamabad, Nirmal and Maharashtra.
