Hyderabad: Rachakonda police busted an inter-State drug racket operating from Andhra Pradesh to Mumbai, and arrested three persons along with 1,240 kg of marijuana and two cars, all worth over Rs 2 crore, at Medipally.

The arrested persons were T Santhosh, S Vasudeva Reddy and P Rajeshwar, while three suspects, Shaik Yaseen, Ch Ravinder and M Madhu, were absconding.

“Being the owner of a travel agency, Shaik Yaseen got acquainted with drug peddlers in Sileru agency area of Visakhapatnam. Due to losses in the travel business, he took up drug peddling,” Rachakonda Police Commissioner Mahesh Bhagwat said, adding that he had subsequently developed a customer network in Hyderabad and Maharashtra.

He was using the auto garage of Vasudeva Reddy to dispatch marijuana.

“Whenever they received orders, they went to the agency area and parked the vehicles in a particular area in the forest. The dealers took the vehicles, loaded them and parked them in the same area. The gang brought it to Hyderabad in three to four days and kept the load in the garage, from where it was supplied to customers,” Bhagwat said.

Last Wednesday, they went to the agency area and brought 1,250 kg of marijuana in four cars and kept it in the garage. They sprayed perfumes on the load to avoid the smell from going out. Following a tip-off, the police raided the garage and nabbed them.
