Inter students beat tenth students in Khammam Gurukul for celebrating victory in sports
Intermediate students at a Telangana Tribal Welfare Residential School in Khammam allegedly assaulted Class X students after a sports victory celebration. Parents protested, alleging negligence by school authorities. Police intervened and resolved the issue after warning the accused students
Khammam: An incident of intermediate students beating up tenth standard students came to light at Telangana Tribal Welfare Residential School and College at Gandhipuram of Karepalli mandal in the district on Sunday.
According to sources, in the incident that took place on Saturday late night, intermediate students allegedly stripped 10th-grade students of their clothes and beat them severely for celebrating their victory in a sports event held in the institute.
It was said that the tenth class students won in the kabaddi event while intermediate students won in volleyball and kho-kho in the sports competitions organised at the school marking Independence Day celebrations.
Subsequently, the 10th-grade students celebrated their kabaddi victory after receiving the trophy. Unable to tolerate this, intermediate students took the 10th-graders to a room late at night, where they beat them.
The tenth class students alerted the night-duty teacher who was supervising the study hour. But the intermediate students chased the 10th-graders and beat them as they ran. The tenth students spent the night at the railway station; nearby areas and called their parents on Sunday morning to explain the situation.
Upon arriving at the school, the parents questioned the authorities for their failure in taking care of the students and staged a protest. They demanded severe punishment to the inter students and action against the school principal and warden for their negligence in the incident.
The local SI Gopi visited the school, spoke to the parents and tenth class students as well as the school authorities. The matter was resolved without anyone registering any case against intermediate students while warning them not to repeat such acts again.
