Hyderabad: The Intermediate Public Examinations (IPE) 2026 are set to commence from February 25, 2026. The Telangana Board of Intermediate Education (TG BIE) will shortly release a detailed timetable.

As reported in these columns ‘Intermediate exams likely from February 25’ on October 15, the State government approved the same IPE schedule. The Board had proposed two different timetables, with one commencing from February 23 and another from February 25.

“The State government approved the timetable for the intermediate exams, which will commence from February 25, 2026. We will issue a detailed timetable shortly,” a senior official told ‘Telangana Today’.

The exams will begin with first-year subjects, followed by second-year subjects on the next day. Practical examinations for science students will be conducted in January and February.

More than nine lakh students are expected to register and appear for both first and second-year inter exams. Before the Covid-19 pandemic, intermediate exams used to commence in the last week of February. However, due to the pandemic, the timetable was rescheduled to March. In 2024, the IPE commenced from February 28.

Advancing the schedule now will provide some breathing space for students to prepare for competitive examinations like JEE Main, EAPCET and NEET UG.

Further, the State government in principle accorded permission to the TG BIE to hike the IPE fee by Rs.30 from this academic year. While the Board had sought permission to increase the fee by Rs.100, the government approved Rs.30.

With this hike, the fee for intermediate first-year arts and science subjects increases from Rs.520 to Rs.550. Similarly, the fee for intermediate regular second-year humanities and science streams will be revised from Rs.520 and Rs.750 to Rs.550 and Rs.780 respectively.

Meanwhile, the Board extended the last date for making corrections in the nominal rolls (NR) data of intermediate general and vocational stream students for the academic year 2025-26. NR data corrections can be made through the college online services.
