Mancherial: Internal bickering within the BJP surfaced during the visit of the party’s State president N Ramchander Rao to Vemanapalli mandal on Tuesday.

Rao consoled the family members of BJP Vemanapalli mandal president Eta Madhukar, who died by suicide allegedly due to harassment by certain Congress leaders at Kothaguda village. He assured full support to the bereaved family and said a complaint had been lodged with the Ramagundam Commissioner of Police seeking action against the accused Congress leaders.

During the interaction with Madhukar’s family, a heated argument broke out between former Peddapalli MP Dr B Venkatesh Netha and BJP Peddapalli Parliament segment in-charge Gomasa Srinivas. Venkatesh Netha reportedly objected to Srinivas addressing him by name and warned that he would slap him for using abusive language. He lost his temper and attempted to attack Srinivas but was restrained by other party leaders and Rao.

A video of the altercation later went viral on social media, widely shared across WhatsApp and Facebook. While some users criticised Venkatesh Netha for his behaviour, others blamed Srinivas for provoking the exchange. The public spat drew flak from party workers and supporters, exposing factional differences within the BJP’s local unit.
