Hyderabad: Internal bickering continued to resurface in Telangana Congress with several senior leaders including MLA T Jagga Reddy holding a separate meeting in a hotel against the party State president A Revanth Reddy.
Stating that they won’t belong to the dissidents group in the party, these leaders claimed that this was not the first time that the senior leaders conducted meetings separately. “We have been conducting these meetings for the overall development of the party in the State,” former Congress MLA Marri Shashidhar Reddy told media persons after the meeting in a hotel here.
He said the forthcoming elections were like a litmus test for the party in Telangana and these elections were crucial for the survival of the party. The Congress lost several elections in the country as well as the State.
“Under these circumstances, we conducted the meeting to avoid such a situation for the party in the State again,” he said, adding that more such meetings would be held in future for strengthening the party on all fronts.
The Congress high command appointed Revanth Reddy as president of Telangana Pradesh Congress party and made Charanjit Singh Channi as the Chief Minister of Punjab. “We have a strong belief that all the decisions taken by the high command are aimed at strengthening the party,” Shashidhar Reddy said.
“We have strong belief in the leadership of party national president Sonia Gandhi,” he said and requested the party chief to make changes wherever necessary for strengthening of the Congress.
