Sangareddy: The Congress has been hit by severe infighting in almost every assembly constituency in the erstwhile Medak district.

The internal bickering came to the fore even during Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy’s visit to the Gajwel assembly segment to open the Coca Cola company on December 2. Supporters of District Congress Committee president Tumukunta Narsa Reddy and TPCC official spokesperson Bandaru Srikanth Rao, who led two factions in Gajwel, had come to near blows after Narsa Reddy’s followers tore flex banners of the Chief Minister put up Srikanth Rao. The police had to resort to a lathi charge to bring the situation under the control.

In Siddipet assembly segment, Pujala Harikrishna, Daripally Chandram, Guduru Srinivas and other leaders are leading separate factions. The Siddipet leaders have a history of complaining against each other to the TPCC president. They never move closely either. Dubbak constituency too has similar issues as Cheruku Srinivas Reddy and Panyala Sravan Reddy were leading two groups.

In Patancheru assembly segment, the differences were visible between Kata Srinivas Goud, Gudem Mahipal Reddy and Neelam Mahdu. However, in charge Minister Konda Surekha or district Minister Damodara Rajanarsimha have made no efforts to resolve the issues. Minister Ponnam Prabhakar, who represents the Husnabad assembly segment, was also not putting any effort into resolving the group politics in Siddipet district.

The party remains divided in other constituencies as well. The cadre feels that the differences between the leaders will harm the party’s fortunes in the local body elections. Since the party leadership was preparing to appoint a new DCC president apart from filling nominated posts, it is going to be a tough task for them to make all the factions happy.
