Karimanagar: Karimnagar Mayor Y Sunil Rao found fault with the BJP leaders for making contradictory statements on fielding of candidates for Local Authorities Constituency elections. Speaking to reporters, Sunil Rao said both the BJP and Congress parties had already announced that they were not going to field candidates in LAC elections.
However, contrary to BJP State president and Karimnagar MP Bandi Sanjay Kumar’s statement, Huzurabad MLA Eatala Rajender made a statement stating that they have fielded former Karimnagar Mayor S Ravinder Singh in Karimnagar LAC polls. “Who is the BJP State president? Is it Sanjay Kumar or Rajender? Is BJP going to change its State president? Has BJP given any assurance to Rajender to appoint him as party State president?” he asked.
Rajender claimed that Ravinder Singh was BJP’s candidate for MLC polls. However, the former Mayor met congress MLC T Jeevan Reddy and tried to meet other Congress leaders leaving political circles in confusion. Was Ravinder Singh contesting in the MLC poll with the support of BJP or Congress? Sunil Rao sought to know. All these questions were creating confusion among political circles as well as the common public, he said.
If Ravinder Singh was contesting with the support of BJP without knowledge of State president, it was a clear indication that internal bickerings in district BJP have begun. Moreover, some of the BJP Corporators have proposed Ravinder Singh without knowledge of Sanjay Kumar.
To prevent Sanjay Kumar from contesting in the 2023 MLA election from Karimnagar Assembly constituency, Rajender fielded Ravinder Singh to contest in Karimnagar LAC polls and was encouraging group politics in the district BJP, he opined. The BJP leaders were playing cheap politics for their political gains. Both BJP and Congress were contemplating repeating compromise politics which were done in the Huzurabad by-election.
Sharply reacting to the former Mayor’s comments that the downfall of TRS has started with his resignation, Sunil Rao said the downfall of Ravinder Singh has started and there was no problem for the TRS party. Ravinder Singh, who had enjoyed power with the support of Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao, was now at crossroads without any support. The former mayor has no right to comment on the TRS party and its leadership. Commenting on Ravinder Singh’s promise to provide health cards to all MTPCs, he questioned how the former Mayor, who failed to provide health cards to at least 50 corporators during his five years term as Karimnagar Mayor, would provide cards to such a big number of MPTCs.
Sharply reacting to the former Mayor’s comments against him that he had tried to contest as MLA in 2018 assembly elections from Karimnagar segment, Sunil Rao termed the comment as false.
